Navient has declined to comment on the pending litigation. As a result, Bill is now faced with delaying retirement for another decade. The case specifically alleges that Navient failed to inform Bill and many others about the need to convert their loan into a direct loan in order to qualify for forgiveness. Many borrowers have been under the false impression that their loans were eligible for forgiveness, only to find out later that they were enrolled in the wrong loan.
